Overview

Cancún becomes the
assembly point of the New World.

In an era of tariff wars, severe climate anomalies and the restructuring of global logistics, Cancún becomes the main assembly point for the traders, exporters and processors of the New World.

Agricultural export is the foundation of stability of both Americas. In the United States, every dollar of agri-export revenue generates an additional $2.25 in the national economy, while in Brazil and Argentina the agricultural sector provides up to 40% of foreign currency inflows.

At the Forum we will examine how to hold on to margin in a perfect storm.

Main challenges of 2026

Four forces remaking the harvest economy.

01 · Climate

The Super El Niño trail

3 years

This climate phenomenon could reshape the balance of power over the next three years. Forecasters expect an early dry season in late 2026 – early 2027, putting domestic corn and rice crops in Indonesia, India and Vietnam at risk, with severe drought possible in Australia, China and South Africa. The Forum will focus on who gains from the weather chaos and will be able to cover Asian demand.

02 · Logistics

Freight under pressure

30–55%

Geopolitical tension in the Middle East has driven bunkering costs in Singapore up by 30–55%, making every ocean voyage more expensive. The dual domestic crises in North and South America is exacerbating the situation: critically low water levels on the Mississippi River (barge rates up 77%) and new draft restrictions in the Panama Canal. The Forum will focus on new routes and freight cost optimization.

03 · Oilseeds

Oil boom, biofuel bind

2028

Global vegetable oil exports are restructuring. With palm oil output stagnating in South-East Asia, demand for soybean and rapeseed oil has surged, while the oilseed sector is squeezed between food demand and aggressive biodiesel growth in the US, Brazil and Indonesia. The forum will focus on the food-energy balance, as well as price and demand forecasts for oil and oilcake through 2028.

04 · Currency

The battle for South-East Asia

$500bn

A strong US dollar and costly logistics weigh on American and Canadian wheat exporters. Meanwhile peso devaluation and lower export duties under Javier Milei have made Argentine grain hyper-competitive, with historic shipments to China and contracts captured in Indonesia, Vietnam and Bangladesh. The forum will focus on how market shares will be redistributed in the $500 billion Asian import market.

Agenda

Key forum topics

01

The geopolitical fault line

How President Trump's foreign policy will affect trade in the Asia-Pacific region, and how China's political preferences will redistribute global commodity flows.

02

The Black Sea factor

How drought in Europe and the export situation in Russia and Ukraine affect the world market. Will competition from Black Sea grain weaken in South-East Asian markets?

03

The battle for the Asian oils market

A high sunflower crop in Russia and the return of Argentina. Price level and demand forecasts from the key importers — India and China.

04

Soybean and meal stand-off

What chance do the US have against the powerful push of South American suppliers? How will the US, Brazil, Argentina and the Black Sea divide soybean meal market share?

05

The rapeseed shift

Growing rapeseed production in Canada and Australia — consequences for global supply and prices in 2027.
